TERRAGLOW SUSTAINABLE LAMP
Available in two elegant colors, this lamp shade emits a soft, warm glow that enhances your home’s ambiance while using renewable and sustainable materials.
While this was a collaborative partner project, all work displayed in this section, unless otherwise stated, is entirely my own.
IDEATION
In our initial concept sketches, we explored a wide range of ideas without committing to a specified product, so it was helpful to sketch as many ideas as possible at first, even if they were not entirely feasible given the five week scope. Initially, we intended to use pewter, but this choice created some design challenges. Ultimately, we decided to use terracotta, which aligned more closely with our design concepts overall.
REFINED SKETCHES
After securing the lamp concept, I did many form explorations of the idea of a hanging lamp and decided on the one shown in the top and bottom right.
MATERIALS
The base of the shade is crafted from recycled polystyrene sourced from The Good Plastics Company, a leader in sustainable practices that uses 100% recycled plastics, this piece combines eco-friendly design with stylish functionality.
On top of the polystyrene shade sits hand-woven macramé crafted with twine from bamboo fibers, aligning with our eco-friendly approach.
The base of the lamp is crafted using slip-cast terracotta, molded for efficient and accessible production.
