“PRIVATO” CHAIR FOR CAPPELLINI
During an eight week mentorship with Cappellini I had the incredible opportunity to work under the guidance of Giulio Cappellini and create a chair to be used in public spaces such as hotel lobbies, airport lounges, and at office spaces that promotes privacy in such public spaces.

SKETCHES AND IDEATION
INITIAL CAD MODELS
After sketching my initial concepts, I researched anthropometric measurements and used these measurements to guide the development of my CAD models, experimenting with various proportions to optimize for ergonomics and human factors. All slighting changing the overall feel of the design.

REVISED CAD MODELS
Following the midpoint review, I refined my concepts based on feedback, incorporating additional details and adjustments. I introduced curtains to provide an optional separation for the two-seater, enhanced the fullness of the cushions for added comfort, and incorporated details- such as stitching- on the seats.

REFLECTION
This project highlighted the value of listening to and applying feedback from mentors and peers alike. I learned the significance of the iterative process, making both major and minor adjustments to refine the design. Even subtle changes, like increasing a fillet by just one inch, contributed to achieving the envisioned outcome.
Attention to detail was key, from perfecting the overall form to considering intricate elements, such as which stitching to consider when modeling. Even with material choice, we were urged to think about circular design and using recycled materials. Additionally, presenting the final design to Poltrona Frau representatives allowed me to hone my public speaking skills, ensuring I communicated my vision clearly and professionally.
